Welcome to our karate club web site. JB Karate Academy Derby is a
small family club based in and around the Derby area offering pay as
you train Karate lessons / classes for all ages and fitness levels in
Derby.
The Karate that is taught is based around three traditional styles of
karate plus some kick boxing, as the founder of the club Sensei John
Bryan has over 30 years experience in all of these areas.
All of our classes are designed in a way that no matter what your fitness
levels are you will be able to take part in the whole class. Students
range from 5 to 60 years of age.
We have developed a way of teaching the children in our classes so they
have fun as well as learn at the same time. This is very important with
children, and we are proud to say that 99% of children who join our club
really enjoy there training, and come to the classes because they want
to and not because they are made to.
JBK is made up of three styles of karate they are Wado Ryu ,
Shotokan ,and Goju also adding to this the modern martial art of kick
boxing. Even though most of the styles are traditional JBK is also a
very modern martial art using many different methods within there
training witch includes tournaments.
Majority of our classes are mixed age groups, this enables the whole
family to train together. We have many families that take advantage of
this. We are a family club and we offer NON CONTACT classes this
means you can get fit and learn without the fear of getting hurt, which
makes for a more relaxed and friendly training atmosphere. So if you
